Laura Thomas

Position:  Teacher Level 1, First Aider

Occupation: Jack of all trades and master of some!

History: I started with Tom as a swimmer working my way up through the Squad. I began helping by doing administrative duties on poolside. Dealing with enquiries from parents and children and handling the money. I took on more responsibilities and set up the data base used to collate swimmer details. I began supporting teachers in the water with the beginners classes. I have taken a number of lifeguarding qualifications both for poolside and open water swimming. I recieved my results of the SwimmingTeachers course and passed. I am now teaching classes having gained the experience that Tom demands of his teaching staff. I really enjoy developing a good relationship with parents and answering their questions relating to the teaching and learning going on in their childs lessons.

Interests: St John Ambulance, reading, swimming, the tribe, I also enjoy organising charity events, which started out as a little thing like a coffee stand, selling coffee and juice to the parents on a Sunday to raise money for Brain Tumour UK, to the sponsored swim to raise money for the air ambulance, but anything I have done I couldn't do without the help of my mum, who supplied me with money for coffee or helped with the planning of these events.

Favourite stroke: Butterfly - powerful stroke
