Tom Gresty swim school
History:
Tom Gresty was born in Blackpool 1935. He joined the British army as a boy soldier in 1951 and discharged in 1961. In 1965 he emigrated to Australia and worked as an assitant surveyor in the N.S.W water conservation commission, returning to Britain in 1968. Then he worked for British railways as a signalman and traffic controller retiring through redundancy in 1993.
His children, Thomas and Annette joined Rugby swimming club in 1982 and it was at this time a love affair with swimming began, he regularly helped out with coaching sessions. 1983 Tom qualified as a preliminary swimming teacher, 1984 as preliminary swimming coach 1985 as a full ASA teacher and 1987 He qualified as an assitant club coach.
In 1991Tom was chosen by British rail to select and coach a national swimming team from railway employees and their dependants to represent Great Britain in the international railways sporting games. The Championships being only the second event following the 1991 student games to be held at the newly built ponds Forge in Sheffield.
He held the position of chief coach briefly with Rugby swimming club but spent most of his time as head teaching instructor with the club. Later he was the founder and coach of the Rugby masters squad.

Interests:
His family including his youngest daughter Victoria along with 5 grandchildren. Hobbies consisted of walking in the dales, swimming (lapsed) watching old movies and keeping tropical fish. It was Tom's aim to ensure as many young people as possible are introduced to swimming at the earliest oppurtunity and are given the best tuition the Tom Gresty teaching staff can provide.
